Wilmington, NC Bridging the Gap Book Signing

July 14, 2018 @ 6:00 am - 8:30 pm EDT

Free

On July 14, 2018, at Expo 216, 216 N Front Street, 6pm-8pm, the event organized will celebrate the launch of the Live Well, Die Well Tour and Kimberly’s birthday, and provide a chance for the town of Wilmington to say goodbye to a resident of 20 years before she embarks on her national book and educational tour.

Over the last 18 years, Kimberly has worked as the VP of Communications and Outreach of a local hospice organization based in her hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina. The organization has grown to be the second largest hospice service provider in the state of North Carolina, serving over 600 patients per day. She was in charge of overseeing sales, marketing, communications, and volunteer activities and served as a part of the senior leadership team. In 2016, Kimberly decided to retire from full-time employment, cash in her retirement, and work on implementing creatively the life lessons she learned at the bedside of the dying. Throughout 2017, Kimberly worked on Death by Design, a national podcast, with over 2000 listeners per week. She also wrote a book, titled Bridging the Gap, Life Lessons from the Dying.

Since retiring from full-time employment, Kimberly has realized that change happens at a small-scale, in small groups and with one person at a time. She decided to do something radical in order to create and spread awareness, enhance people’s knowledge about death and dying, and start a timely and significant dialogue. Kimberly and her German Shepherd, Haven, decided to take a huge leap of faith, buy an RV, and hit the road to take personal stories from town to town, state to state, to normalize conversation relating to death and dying.
